Last day at our wonderful workshop (summer edition)

I believe that toady was a wonderful wrap up day. This is really the best workshop. Most workshops are boring and just a way to get CEU's. I think this is a wonderful way of learning. This is the most interesting workshop. I would love to help next year with presenting a short portion on National History Day competition if at all possible.

Day 19 presentation day

Today we discussed our lesson plans that we plan on using. We have worked hard on these lesson plans and everyone has some great ideas. I hope that everyone attending uses their materials.

day 18

Today we worked on our website. Also we went to the TK Martin center. We received the Differentiated check list. I realized that most of my students have meet the check list. The Tk Martin Center is amazing on how they help the people that are less fortunate than other students. I need to have hand outs for our students.

day 17

Today we learned about the copyright laws. Also we worked on putting voice files on work. Lastly we worked on putting a info graphic together. The info graphic is one thing that I believe I will be able to use the most. I can use this for my students to see the growth of test scores. The voice on power points would work for if I am sick. I don't think my students will be able to do that right now at the middle school level. The copyright laws are very interesting I really think most teachers break it.

Day 16

Today we learned to use campus. Its a really cool technology. I, however do not see me using it very much in my class, unless I have a student that is going to miss a lot of important things. I have learned about many different technology and I don't see that this one will be as helpful. The power point is something I really enjoyed. I like creating my own background instead of using the same boring background. Overall I think today was pretty good.

June 23, 2014 (day 15)

Today was like walking into a new thing. I have missed a week due to prior arrangement with my district and I feel lost. I have no idea what is going on or what to do. However, I am a quick learner and I can pick up technology pretty well. Today for the most party was going over Prezi and how to use a I pad. Prezi has some advantages and disadvantages. I personally do not like Prezi. On the other hand I would love to use Ipad in my class. I would love to be able to use it but am not willing to spend money on the I pad at this time. Overall I think today will be thrown out and I will pick up more tomorrow.

Day 9

Today, we went over so 21st century ideas. This I think will relate to the students so much more than just text book. I think the more technology you use the more likely students will be drawn into the lesson. Our world is changing around us and as teachers we must also change our techniques. This is what this workshop is about and I am very happy to be apart of this workshop.

Day 8!

Today we were in the Loyd Ricks building. We spent the majority of the time learning about Economics and Service based learning. With economics we were able to discuss tools that can help us in the classroom. Also we where able to watch a really interesting video on who all is involved with making a pencil. Over all I think this is a productive day. However I would really like to be able to find time to do the Project Based learning. I just don't think I can fit it in.

1. Summarize what you have learned toady about games and simulations. Well I have learned how to make a game using excel. Also not to be afraid of using games in the classroom. The usage of games in the classroom may help some of our students succeed by making them more interested in the subject area. 2. describe two things you have learned today that are readily applicable to your teaching. That I can use games to teach students. That using more technology can only help.

The two things I found most helpful was the immediate feedback assessment. I think that this scratch off sheet would really help students with them knowing if they are retaining the information. Also I think building a website to help with the class and extra curricular things that I help with will help so much. Both are assets that I will continue to use in my future career. The literacy strategies will help with students comparing two documents. I think having them compare two documents and drawing their own conclusion would be more beneficial than just telling them facts all day. I am learning a lot and drawing a lot from this workshop. I hope to expand more. With Common Core students are made to read more and more and having draw their own conclusions from the readings.

What are the two things that you find most helpful today? Two things that I have found helpful today is the internet tools that have been shown to us. Also the next thing I have found helpful today is the backwards building of a curriculum. How can you potentially apply them to your lesson planning and teaching? I can use weebly to put notes and slides that the student may have missed. Also I can explain what we are teaching. I think this will be a tool that I can use everyday. I think building a lesson backwards makes us think first what is the outcome that we want and how can we achieve this outcome. I think this will effect my career for the rest of my teaching career.

First Friday

Week one down. I really can't believe that it is over. I really think this has been a great learning environment. I really think I can take this back to my group of teachers at my school. I really can't believe how much fun this activity.

Day 3 with GAETI

Today started off with a Geocache. Next, we have gone to two muesumes. Also, we had a great lecture about Native American rights. Fourth day of this professional development and still going strong. I'm still learning new techniques and have new ideas about how to conduct my class. I do believe still this is the strongest professional development I have been to yet. My experince in the Geocache was that my group was in it to win it. Sadly one of our Geocache was taken or possible thrown away I still believe that we did great. I really don't know how this professional development can get any better but as of right now it is one of the best.

Day two.

Today we discussed a lot about geography. I really have enjoyed the more hands on approach to a workshop. Using the create your own country would be a great project to look at while we begin Advance World Geography. So far this is the best Professional Development I have been to.

First Day at GAETI WORKSHOP

Today was very insightful. We went over many different research tools. Also, we were allowed to talk about Common Core. I really feel as if this workshop will really help with moving forward with my teaching career.
